Bitcoin at State of the Net 2015

The annual State of the Net conference in Washington, DC, is the largest Internet policy conference in America with over 700 attendees last year.

The annual State of the Net conference in Washington, DC, is the largest Internet policy conference in America with over 700 attendees last year. It is sponsored under the auspices of the Congressional Internet Caucus and has established itself as one of the premier venues for sharing ideas and working on the hard policy problems which the Internet tends to raise. This year will be no different as Bitcoin and blockchain technology will be represented and discussed more than ever before.

Coin Center Executive Director Jerry Brito will be leading a discussion entitled “The Bitcoin Policy Prescription: Will Policymakers Get It Right (Again) Or Will Fear Stifle Innovation?” The panel will examine the success of “light touch” regulation in the early days of the Internet and consider how those lessons can be applied when thinking about the future of Bitcoin. Panelists include representatives from the Bitcoin industry, financial sector, and regulators.

We will be joined at the conference by Fred Ehrsam of Coinbase, one of our supporters, who will be participating in a keynote discussion with House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte, who is the co-chair of the Congressional Internet Caucus.

The conference will be held on Tuesday, Jan 27. To follow along with the discussion remotely, use #SOTN15 where we will be tweeting from @CoinCenter.
